Strong Woman Talking

Empowering Women, Children, and Families Through Support, Education, and Healing

Strong Woman Talking is a community-focused organisation dedicated to breaking the cycles of violence and trauma within our First Nations communities. Through a culturally safe and trauma-informed approach, we empower women to reclaim their strength, identity, and purpose.

What We Do:

Educating:
We educate women about the different forms of abuse and the cycle of violence, believing that knowledge is key to creating safer futures for generations to come.

Equipping:
We equip women with effective coping mechanisms and tools to heal from trauma and rebuild their lives.

Empowering:
We empower women to discover self-worth, embrace self-love, and build a strong sense of belonging and identity to achieve their dreams and aspirations.

Programs and Services:

Healing Journey Workshops:
Our flagship program runs for six weeks and is delivered in a culturally safe environment. Facilitated by experienced professionals and Elders, these workshops are trauma-informed and rooted in Aboriginal cultural frameworks to support open and empowering conversations.

One-Day Workshops:
Held every two months for women who have completed the Healing Journey, these workshops offer ongoing connection and encouragement. Participants experience cultural activities facilitated by trusted Aunties and professionals.

Big Sister Little Sister Program:
This educational initiative uplifts young tiddas, nurturing their growth into strong, independent, and valued members of their communities.

Culturally Safe Counselling:
We partner with qualified First Nations specialists to provide culturally sensitive counselling, narrative therapy, and cultural supervision.

Open Thinking Workshops:
Tailored for mainstream government and non-government agencies, these workshops address the ongoing impacts of colonisation and advocate for dismantling systemic racism to create meaningful change for First Nations peoples.
